Gandhi Jayanti is a national wide holiday in India to mark the birthday of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, will be known as "Father of the Nation", who fighted for the freedom in a non-violence. Though the title was not declared officially, as the Constitution of India does not permit a father of nation, but it is mostly conferred to him. The United Nations General Assembly have announced on 15th June, 2007 that it adopted a resolution to declared that October 2nd will be given holiday nationwide and celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence.

Mahatma Gandhi, can also be known as 'Bapu', Mahatma Gandhiji, was born on the October 2nd, in the year 1869, in Porbandar, Gujarat.
